Priority Issues:
Representative Finlay's Top Three Goals
1) Promote and encourage economic development on three fronts: improving our road and highway infrastructure; working to improve agriculture in rural SC; and improving education with a focus on vocational training/education.
2) Make the Conservation Bank Legislation permanent: The Bank sunsets in 2017 and has been a successful program. This program has protected tens of thousands of acres and numerous historic sites at very little cost while leaving properties in private hands and on the tax rolls. It is a triumph of conservation over regulation.
3) Ethics Reform has been an ongoing issue for South Carolina. The House passed a bill, which ultimately died in the Senate. I have been asked by leadership to take a central role in Ethics reform and to liaison with the League of Women Voters and other interested parties.
Reason for Seeking Public Office:
I want to create a strong South Carolina which brings opportunity to everyone. To achieve these goals, we must put a stop to the steady increase in government spending and taxing. We cannot continue to raise the tax burden on South Carolina families. We must allow families to keep more of what they earn while giving small businesses opportunities to grow.
