Reason for Seeking Public Office:

As many of you know, I decided about ten years ago to get involved in local government
because I felt those of us in Eastern North Carolina were over-taxed, over-regulated, over-looked
and under-represented. I attended many local government Board meetings to inform myself on
the issues facing county and municipal governments East of Interstate 95.

I reached the conclusion that governments at all levels, did not have revenue problems, they
had spending problems. I concluded that the solutions to our problems would require more than
mere change; we would need a restoration of the tried and tested principles of thrift, industry,
work and self-reliance that made this the greatest nation on earth.

I was elected to represent North Carolina House District 4 in November of 2010. I am now
confident that Wayne and Duplin counties must join our voices and votes with other Eastern
North Carolina counties in a united regional effort if we want a seat at the decision making table
with the political power base West of Interstate 95.

I have filed for re-election because I believe I have the vision and ability to insure that the
voices of citizens of Wayne and Duplin counties are effectively represented in the General
Assembly.
