Priority Issues:
I believe government funding and decisions should be as local as possible because local government is more responsive to the needs of citizens than centralized government. I believe that individuals should be responsible for their choices. Capable Oregonians should be enabled and encouraged to provide for their own sustenance at the level they desire. Charities and local government should help less fortunate Oregonians that do not have the capability to provide for themselves.
Oregon needs to have a robust economy. Each generation should pay for itself and leave the next generation in better shape. We need to strengthen business and education.
Transportation, communication, reliable electricity, and abundant water are important for the future of our our state. The state is responsible to ensure these are available to local communities.
Publications:
I help edit a magazine "Pop Up Times".
Reason for Seeking Public Office:
I am seeking public office because our children and grandchildren will become slaves of the state if we keep heading the same direction we are going. When I moved to Oregon after college, I lived with Lionel A. Leighton, an 89 year old gentleman for three years. He told me so many times "I feel sorry for you young pups coming up. I am glad I lived in America when it was a free country. When we got paid, it was cash in an envelope." In the last 27 years, I have seen our freedoms erode even further. We need to change direction.
Spouse's Occupation:
Debrah is mom to the boys and the Secretary/Treasurer for our business.
