Reason for Seeking Public Office:
Dear Friends:
I ran for the 17th District seat in the Ohio House of Representatives for two reasons:
To actively serve the people of the 17th District, by listening to their concerns, working alongside them for jobs, economic opportunity, positive youth programs, neighborhood improvements and public safety.
To promote civility and bipartisanship in the effort to address Ohio's problems; to counter the shrill, overly partisan behavior that undermines public confidence in government.
I've lived my entire life in Columbus. I am familiar with the neighborhoods in the 17th District -- much of West and South Columbus, including the Hilltop and Westgate; Franklin Township; Marble Cliff; San Margherita; Valleyview, and portions of Hamilton Township.
I have studied local and state government for most of my adult life, and have a solid working knowledge of how public policies are enacted. This knowledge will help me be an effective advocate for the citizens of this district.
I have a good working relationships with a diverse array of community leaders, across the business, labor, government and nonprofit sectors. I am committed to working collaboratively with them in an effort to benefit the 17th District, its businesses, schools, nonprofit organizations and civic groups.
I do not view the job of state representative as a stepping stone to another political office. I view it as a public trust, and an opportunity to serve a community that has been very good to me and my family.
I am humbled and honored to have succeeded in winning a seat to the Ohio House on November, 6, 2012, and I look forward to tirelessly working for the families and small businesses throughout the 17th District. Please feel free to call my office at 614-644-6005.
