Title: Banning Text Messaging While Driving
This bill prohibits writing a text message and using 2 hands to type on or operate an electronic or telecommunications device while driving.
-Clarifies that a person does not write a message when he or she reads, selects, or enters a phone number or name in a wireless communications device for the purpose of making a phone call (Sec. 1). -Imposes a fine of $100 for a violation of this law (Sec. 1). -Takes effect January 1, 2010 (Sec. 2).
