Vote to pass a bill requiring physicians to provide certain information to a pregnant woman before performing an abortion.

Highlights:

-Requires physicians to provide a pregnant woman with the following information prior to performing an abortion: a description of the procedure, medical risks of abortion, increased risk of breast cancer, a probable age and physical description of the unborn child/fetus, risks of carrying the child to term, available medical assistance benefits for pregnant women, information on agencies that provide abortion alternatives, and the father's obligation to support the child [§1.35-29-103]. -Requires physicians to provide the information at least 24 hours before the procedure, "verbally and in person" (§1.35-29-103). -Exempts physicians from these requirements in the case of a medical emergency [§1.35-29-103(a)]. -Requires physicians to inform the woman of their reasons for performing an emergency abortion before the abortion whenever possible [§1.35-29-105].
