Title: Requires State Agencies to Implement Policies to Reduce Institutional Racism
Vote to pass a bill that requires state agencies to implement policies to reduce institutional racism.
Requires the state to develop policies and plans to address, reduce, and prevent institutional racism, plus provide effective, equitable, and fair service to the state’s diverse communities (Sec. 1).
Requires each state agency to submit a plan to the legislature, by January 1, 2021, that addresses the following (Sec. 1):
An assessment of their anti-racist policies in hiring, promotion, retention, pay equity, community engagement, and workplace participation;
Creating a data infrastructure that allows for tracking progress toward ending institutional racism; and
Instituting a statewide evaluation of race & gender gaps in hiring, promotion, retention, and pay and a plan for rectifying such inequities.
Requires the state to include a statement on all job advertisements that clearly articulates the state’s commitment to preventing institutional racism (Sec. 1).
Requires the state to provide demographic statistics for all employees who choose to self-identify as a particular race (Sec. 1).
