Title: Amends Animal Cruelty Laws
Vote to pass a bill that amends animal cruelty laws for livestock and for pets.
Specifies that an individual is guilty of cruelty to animals if such individual engages in any of the following (Sec. 2):
Fails to provide necessary medical treatment to an animal;
Intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly hoards animals; or
Allows a person under their supervision to subject an animal to any kind of cruel mistreatment.
Defines “animal” to exclude livestock and poultry that are part of an agricultural operation (Sec. 2).
Defines “cruel neglect” to include failing to provide sufficient food that is appropriate for the species and fit for consumption, sufficient water that is suitable for drinking, and sufficient shelter that is appropriate for the animal and weather conditions (Sec. 2).
Defines “hoarding animals” as possessing animals in a quantity or manner that fails to provide necessary food, sanitation, or medical care (Sec. 2).
