Vote to pass a bill that limits citizen-led initiatives to amend the state constitution.
Highlights:
- Requires petitions that propose an amendment to the state constitution to include signatures from the state’s 27 senatorial districts equal in number to 8 percent of the votes cast in that district in the most recent gubernatorial election (Sec. 1).
- Requires a constitutional amendment submitted to voters for approval to receive 55 percent of the popular vote, whereas existing law requires 50 percent (Sec. 1).
