Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that requires insurers that provide liability insurance to disclose policy information when a claim is filed.

Highlights:
  • Requires insurers to provide the following information within 30 days of receiving a request from a claimant’s representative (Sec. 1):
    • A response providing the following information:
      • The name of the insurer;
      • The name of each insured individual; and
      • The limits of the liability coverage; or
    • The declarations page of the insurance policy that was applicable at the time of the events that are the subject of the claim.
  • Requires requests by a claimant’s representative to include the following information (Sec. 1):
    • The date and location of the events that are the subject of the claim;
    • The name and last known address of the insured individual;
    • A copy of any accident or incident report;
    • The insurer’s claim number;
    • An estimate and documentation of all of the claimant’s medical expenses and wage loss; and
    • Documentation of any property damage.
  • Specifies that any insurer that fails to comply with the requirements of this act is subject to a penalty of $500 plus attorney’s fees and expenses (Sec. 1).
