Ryan: We Will Show People Real Solutions

Yesterday, Wisconsin's First District congressman and speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, spoke with WIBA's Vicki McKenna.

Excerpts of Ryan's answers follow:

Addressing the major issues facing the country:

"We see the country going in the wrong direction . . . and we so desperately want to get the country back on the right track and fix these big problems before they get out of our control. What I can do about that as a person who works for the people of the First District of Wisconsin, as a guy who's a leader in Congress, in a position, quite frankly, I wasn't planning on doing, but I'm in and I'm eager to do, is roll out an agenda to show our fellow citizens what it's going to take to turn the country around.

We [will] take our conservative principles, apply them to the problems of the day, show people that the real solutions, [and] run on those solutions. And that's what we're doing in the House. That's what I'm working with House Republicans . . . to lay out there. We're going to lay it out before the convention.

How do you grow the economy, what do you replace Obamacare with, how do you move people from welfare to work and get at the root causes of poverty, how do you keep us safe with a good national security, have it restore the Constitution and the concept of representative self-government and limited government? We're going to put details on all of those points and show the country how we can get back on track."
