Statement on Passage of BRICK Act

Statement

Date: March 3, 2016
Location: Washington D.C.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) issued the following statement today on House passage of H.R. 4557, the Blocking Regulatory Interference from Closing Kilns (BRICK) Act:

"The brick industry is the latest target of the Obama administration's regulatory assault on American manufacturing. The EPA's burdensome emission standards are another breach of executive power that may well be struck down by the courts, but not before jobs are lost and the industry suffers--to the tune of $100 million a year. That's where the BRICK Act comes in. This legislation would halt this harmful regulation from going into effect until the courts decide upon its legality. I commend Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH) on his leadership on this critical issue."
