Congressman Scott Tipton came to Palisade and Grand Junction today. He met with community members and local health leaders. The first stop was at the Veteran's Memorial Community Center for the centennial celebration of the Grand River Diversion Dam.

He spoke about some of the challenges facing the Western Slope, including: water protection rights and healthcare policy issues.

"What we really hope to accomplish is gathering of information and opportunity to let people know the legislation that we're working on to impact things that are important in our district and our communities," said Tipton.

He took a tour of Community Hospital and met with their CEO, Chris Thomas.

Thomas says St. Mary's Hospital gets 13% more in reimbursements for Medicare patients. He asked the congressman for some relief to make sure they get paid the same for doing the same work in the same community.
