Office of Personnel Management Director Katherine Archuleta isn't just out of her depth on the massive breach at her agency -- she was never qualified to hold the position in the first place, GOP lawmakers said today.

"She ended up in this position because of her political and fundraising experience for the president, and she's had some experience in the government, but if you were to compare her background experience to the head of personnel for a large Fortune 100 company or Fortune 500 company, she probably would have difficulty to get that job," Rep. Will Hurd told POLITICO.

Archuleta was the national political director for President Barack Obama's 2012 reelection campaign and began her career as a teacher in Denver. She also worked in the Clinton administration and was chief of staff to the secretary of Labor in the first term Obama administration.

"She is flat-out not qualified," said House Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz in an interview. "She may have been a successful teacher and good political operative, but she's not qualified to run one of the biggest HR operations in the world. And when it comes to technology, she's in way, way over her head."

Chaffetz said he has gotten no response from the White House to a letter he and other Republican members of his committee sent calling for Archuleta and CIO Donna Seymour's resignation. The White House has stood behind Archuleta and today she rejected fresh calls for her to resign.
