Rep. Loretta Sanchez's Statement on the Fourth of July Holiday

Date: July 3, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-46) released a statement in celebration of the Fourth of July holiday.

"Our great country has come so far since its independence and in just the past few weeks, we have made historic strides in marriage equality and health care. The Supreme Court has declared what we all know is true, that a person can love and marry whomever they wish.

"They also reaffirmed that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is truly the law of the land. Families should not have to struggle to obtain health care, and now because of the ACA, millions of Americans have the care they deserve.

"This July 4th weekend let us celebrate the progress our country has made, but keep in mind that more must be done. I look forward to working with my colleagues on closing the wage gap, caring for those veterans returning home from war and ensuring our broken immigration system is fixed. The United States of America is and always will be the greatest country on earth, and this weekend let us enjoy our independence responsibly and safely."
