Press Release

Date: June 29, 2015
Location: Champaign, IL

U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) on Saturday participated in a panel discussion with Rev. Dr. Ofelia Ortega, an elected member of the Cuban National Assembly, and Paul Johnson, president of the Illinois Cuba Working Group, on normalizing trade and travel relations with Cuba and benefits to the U.S. economy and the Cuban people. The panel was hosted by the First Presbyterian Church in Champaign, IL.

"By normalizing trade and travel relations with Cuba, we can help boost our economy, especially in areas like agriculture, and strengthen Cuba's middle class through increased opportunity," said Davis. "While we have a long way to go, positive discussions like this can help build the relationships needed to improve the lives of the Cuban people, with a goal to finally end the disastrous Castro regime."
