Congressman Tom Rice (SC-07) today released the following statement on H.R. 3038, the Highway and Transportation Funding Act of 2015, Part II:

"After 34 short-term patches, I believe it is time for Congress to change our approach and address our country's long-term needs. By not having sustainable funding for our highway system, American business is less competitive globally," said Rice. "Last week, I introduced a long-term solution to fix the Highway Trust Fund that would eliminate the fund's deficit. H.R. 2971, the Highway Trust Fund Certainty Act, would ensure that the Highway Trust Fund is solvent and allow for necessary investments in our infrastructure.

"Today the House voted on H.R. 3038, legislation to temporarily fund the Highway Trust Fund through the end of the year. I strongly agree that our highway and interstate projects must be funded, however I did not vote for this bill because it is yet another temporary bailout that does not bring necessary certainty to grow our economy and create American jobs," Rice concluded.
