Southwest Iowa residents will have a chance to talk with their representative later on Monday in Farragut.
Iowa 3rd District Representative David Young will hold a "Coffee with my Congressman" event in the Freedom Corner in Farragut located at 601 Hartford Ave.

Young tells KMA News that these events are very important to keep him informed of what's happening in the district.

"They're very, very important to me, and it's a deal that I made with the voters and the constituents in the third district," said Young. "So, I do these 'Coffees with your Congressman.' Sometimes, they are on a Saturday morning at 8 a.m., sometimes they are on a Monday from 5-6. But, anytime is a good time to sit down together, have coffee and talk about the issues."

Young says that he takes the information from these meetings and puts it to use when he goes back to Washington.

"What I learn from them, I come back to D.C., I talk to my colleagues and ask if they are hearing about the same things," said Young. "Unfortunately, too often I hear from my colleagues, 'you know what, I'm not doing town halls or I'm not doing these coffees, so I don't know what my constituents are talking about.' It just puts things in perspective about why sometimes there's a disconnect out here."

The coffee will run from 5-6 p.m. Young was a guest on KMA's 7:35 newscast last week.
