Benishek Releases Statement on VA IG Resignation

Following the resignation of acting VA Inspector General, Richard Griffin, Dr. Dan Benishek has released the statement below:

"An effective Inspector General is crucial if the VA is to become an organization that can be held accountable to our veterans and to US taxpayers. The culture of the VA has been more focused on excuses than solutions, and that must change.

My Demanding Accountability for Veterans Act would allow the IG to break through the bureaucracy and would make it easier to fire bad employees. Still, we must have a willing partner in accountability at the office of the IG in order for positive change to occur."
