I am committed to work during my time in Congress to ensure that the men and women who have served, are serving, or will serve in the U.S. military are afforded the respect that they deserve and the benefits and services that they need. It is their selfless sacrifices that make America's freedoms possible.

As the son of a disabled WWII veteran, I grew up around veteran's facilities, and I understand the importance of treating our veterans with the dignity they are entitled to. I strongly believe we must have increased flexibility for veterans to access health care services, which I continue to fight for on behalf of veterans across the Second District. Currently, construction is under way on a new facility for Michigan's veterans in Wyoming and is scheduled to open this fall. I support efforts to improve the claims process at the Veterans Affairs Department to ensure that veterans are getting services and benefits they need in a timely manner.
