Rep. Tom Graves Votes to Support Troops, Strengthen Georgia Military Installations

Statement

Date: May 15, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) released the following statement after voting in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016 (H.R. 1735):

"The most fundamental role of the federal government is to provide for our common defense and, after six full years of the Obama administration's weak commitment to our military readiness, now is the time reclaim a strong national defense as a top priority. To effectively protect our nation, we must have the strongest, most advanced military in the world. This legislation authorizes the resources necessary to protect our nation today and prepare for the threats of tomorrow.

"Additionally, this critical legislation will strengthen Georgia's military installations, along with the communities they support. With more than 100,000 active-duty soldiers, reservists and guardsmen in Georgia -- the fourth largest military population in the nation -- I am proud to support our men and women in uniform by voting for this legislation."

H.R. 1735 passed the House by a bipartisan vote of 269 to 151.
