Vitter Recognizes Neighborly Social Media Marketing Firm
U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), Chairman of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, today announced Conversations of New Orleans, La. to be Small Business of the Week, and has submitted it into the official Congressional Record.
"One major advantage of using modern technology is the ability to reach non-traditional potential clients, and Megan Hargroder's media consulting firm Conversations helps local New Orleans businesses make that connection," said Vitter. "When local small businesses help one another, the community as a whole grows stronger, and Conversations plays a large role to help its neighbor start-ups, small entities, and non-profits use social media to grow their business and succeed."
In 2010, Megan Hargroder noticed a lack in social media consulting for start-ups, small businesses, and non-profits in the greater New Orleans area. Eager to fill the niche, Hargroder founded the media consulting company Conversations. Conversations has been an integral component in the online presence of numerous local organizations, businesses, and campaigns, such as Tobacco Free Living and Team Gleason with former New Orleans Saints safety Steve Gleason.
This year Vitter introduced and passed the Steve Gleason Act of 2015 through the Senate, a bill that would make speech generating devices (SGDs) more accessible, helping patients diagnosed with diseases such as Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), live more independent lives. Vitter's legislation is named in honor of Steve Gleason, who was diagnosed with ALS in January 2011. Vitter has been working with Steve and his foundation, Team Gleason, on this legislation since 2014. Earlier this month, the Steve Gleason Act of 2015 passed through the Ways and Means Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and is pending a vote on the House floor.
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Vitter is continuing the tradition of honoring local small businesses.
