Disappointed in Supreme Court Decisions
This week the Supreme Court announced rulings on two very important issues. I was disappointed and disheartened with the outcome of both decisions.
On Thursday the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Obamacare in the case of King v. Burwell. I have voted alongside my colleagues to repeal this law over 50 times. Like most Americans I'm fed up with this administration's need to force this overreaching, unwanted law on the citizens of our country. I'll continue fighting to repeal this law because it's bad for families, bad for small businesses, bad for our seniors, and bad for the American people.

I was once again disappointed when the Supreme Court announced on Friday their decision to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide. Under the United States Constitution, marriage laws have always been a matter left for the states, and Mississippians have overwhelmingly opposed same sex marriage time and again. The Supreme Court's ruling not only undermines the will of the people of Mississippi and the Constitution, but tears at the very fabric of our democracy by setting an alarming precedent for the future of states' rights.

Our State Flag
As I'm sure you are aware there was much controversy this week over our state flag. Many people expressed their opinions from members of the media to elected officials in Washington, as well as other states.

I believe the flag that flies over the State of Mississippi is an issue to be decided by the people of Mississippi. It is not an issue for Congress. Our state is more than capable of handling this issue with dignity and respect, and the people of Mississippi, not outsiders, should continue to be able to choose for themselves the state flag of Mississippi.

Eliminating Obama's Independent Payment Advisory Board
This week in the House we took steps to protect individuals from one of the many harmful aspects of the president's healthcare law by passing a bill that repeals Obamacare's Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).

The IPAB has an overreaching, ghastly amount of control over healthcare decisions that will most specifically affect our senior citizens. Under Obamacare the IPAB is given the authority to choose what medical care will be paid for and what will not, ultimately giving them the power to deny our senior citizens the care they need.
Federal bureaucrats shouldn't be dictating from their offices in Washington how a patient should be treated. I believe our exceptionally well-qualified healthcare professionals in this country are best suited to diagnose and treat their patients in need of medical attention.

As always, if we can be of any assistance please call or visit my office. For more updates I encourage you to connect with me on facebook, twitter, or by visiting my website. I'm also now on instagram and invite you to follow my updates and posts from there as well!
