Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Dennis A. Ross (R-FL-15), Senior Deputy Majority Whip, today released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 2, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015. This bill passed the House by a 392 -- 37 vote.

"Today, I am proud to have helped pass significant reforms to Medicare that will strengthen and save this important program for current and future recipients, without raising taxes.

"Since 2003, Congress has spent nearly $170 billion on 17 short-term patches to the flawed Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula. This legislation replaces the physician reimbursement formula with a system that brings stability to doctors who treat Medicare recipients. By passing this bill and making reforms, my colleagues and I are ensuring seniors will continue to have access to their healthcare providers while saving taxpayer dollars for years to come.

"This bill will also extend the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for an additional two years. CHIP is a health insurance program that provides healthcare to over 400,000 children across the state of Florida."
