Rangel on the Dominican Republic Regularization Plan's Deadline

Statement

Date: June 3, 2015
Location: New York, NY

Congressman Charles B. Rangel released the following statement ahead of the June 17 deadline established by the government of the Dominican Republic on the Regularization Plan for Foreigners that seeks to provide legal status to those undocumented:

"As the deadline approaches for the National Regularization Plan in the Dominican Republic, it is my hope that the Dominican government is able to further normalize the immigration status of its undocumented residents. It is imperative for those residing workers and their families to gain a path to legal residency in a place they have long called home.

I encourage all of those directly affected to register their status by the June 17th deadline. For detailed information on how to register for the Foreigners Regularization Plan and where to find civil local offices, please visit: Ministerio de Interior y Policia , email info@mip.gob.do, or call (809)-686-6251. To register for a Birth Certificate visit: Junta Central Electoral , or call toll-free 809- 200-1959/ accesoinformacion@jce.gob.do. If you are in the Dominican Republic, you can dial toll-free *788.

I will continue to work with President Danilo Medina, Ambassador José Tomás Pérez, and other Dominican leaders to further strengthen U.S.-Dominican ties and shared interests."
