As part of his efforts to reach out to the Inland Empire business community, Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-Rancho Cucamonga, toured a military equipment manufacturer in Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday.

Aguilar was joined by Robert McCay, vice president of Gentex Aircrew Systems, and Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Dennis Michael, for a tour of the Gentex facility, which makes military helmets for infantry, fighter pilots and special operations soldiers.

"Growing the Inland Empire's economy and strengthening the middle class is my top priority," Aguilar said in a statement. "Visiting local manufacturers like Gentex in Rancho Cucamonga gives me an opportunity to hear directly from local employers about ways we can help small businesses grow and create good-paying jobs for our residents."

McCay, who also showed the mayor and congressman parts for a helmet used by pilots of the new F-35 fighter jet, expressed appreciation for the visit.

"The entire Gentex Team appreciated Rep. Aguilar and his staff and Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Dennis Michael for taking time out of their busy schedules to come and see the good work our team is doing in designing, developing and producing precision aircrew life support equipment for our nation's military pilots who serve our country," McCay said. "It was truly inspiring to see Rep. Aguilar's interest in our people, products and our to mission to serve the men and women of our military. It was a pleasure demonstrating the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) F-35 products we produce."
