Norton to Speak at Langston Junior Boys and Girls Golf Club Opening Ceremony, Tomorrow

Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will speak at the Langston Junior Boys and Girls Golf Club's annual opening ceremony tomorrow, Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Langston Golf Course (2600 Benning Road NE). Norton said the Langston Junior Boys and Girls Golf Club is a vital organization providing minority youth with opportunities to grow and learn while having fun playing golf. Norton has been working with the National Park Service to find ways to renovate Langston Golf Course's facilities while maintaining its historic qualities and affordability.

"Our children at Langston Junior Boys and Girls Golf Club are being nurtured both in the fun of golf and in the important life skills they need, such as computer training, all in one safe place," Norton said. "They will also learn about the historic Langston Golf Course, which African American residents won from the federal government after they were excluded from the all-White courses in the District of Columbia."
