Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC-02) released the following statement after sending a letter to Speaker Boehner and Leader Pelosi, expressing concerns regarding a proposed budget offset that would impact the Medicare Part D program.

"I was proud to work with colleagues in leading a bipartisan letter to House Leadership urging their support of the Medicare Part D program for our senior citizens. This letter specifically requested that House Leadership not use allotted funding for the Medicare Part D prescription drug program to pay for, or to offset, any other measure moving through the House of Representatives."

"With more than one million senior citizens living in North Carolina, it is imperative that they continue to have access to quality and life-saving prescription drugs. Medicare Part D is a widely successful and popular program that does not deserve to be put on the chopping block. It has provided our seniors with options, choices and an affordable way to purchase prescription drugs since its implementation."
