Committee on House Administration Ranking Member Rep. Robert A. Brady (D-PA) today recognized the retirement of Dr. James Billington, Librarian of Congress, effective January 1, 2016. The Committee on House Administration is charged with oversight of the Library of Congress.

"I congratulate Dr. Billington on a very long and distinguished career," Brady said. "Dr. Billington's immense contributions to the Library of Congress have helped it become one of the premier cultural institutions in history. His desire to spread knowledge, not just here in the United States but all over the world, is truly inspiring." Brady continued, "I wish Dr. Billington all the best and look forward to assisting the President in any way I can as we begin the search for the 14th Librarian of Congress. I trust we will find the ideal candidate to steward this incredibly important agency in the years to come."
