House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on news that Russian opposition leader Vladimir Kara-Murza fell ill:

"I am deeply saddened by news that my young friend, Vladimir, is ill. Vladimir was a close friend of Boris Nemstov and is a prominent opposition leader in Russia, so it is critical to understand what happened and the alleged suspicious circumstances that brought about his illness. He and his family are in our thoughts and prayers."
