Today, Congressman Kevin Cramer welcomed the news the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded the City of Minot a grant in the amount of $6,093,613.00. The grant will provide 75% of the funding for the construction of a floodwall and modifications to infrastructure to protect Minot's Water Treatment Plant from flooding of the Mouse River and to maintain the plant's ability to provide potable water to residents during high water events. The total cost of the project is projected to be $8,124,817.33.

"The citizens of Minot are still dealing with the long lasting effects of the 2011 flood. While these funds ensure the city and its inhabitants will have a safe, secure source of fresh drinking water well into the future more needs to be done to fully heal the community," said Cramer.
