Brooks Opposes Helping Illegal Aliens Take Military Service Jobs from Americans

Early this morning, the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) passed the FY 2016 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) after open borders and amnesty proponents added Congressman Ruben Gallego's (D-AZ) amendment, on a 33-30 vote, that encourages the Secretary of Defense to declare that DACA illegal aliens are "vital" to America's national interest and thus eligible to enlist in the U.S. Armed Forces even though they are not American citizens.

In previous years, HASC defeated similar efforts to help illegal aliens compete for and take military service opportunities from American citizens. However, six wayward Republicans spurned the HASC Chairman and 30 of their GOP colleagues by voting to put illegal aliens first and American citizens second. Congressman Mo Brooks (R-AL) strongly opposed this amendment.

Congressman Brooks' statement:

"It makes no sense to me that, at the same time the Army is downsizing and issuing pink slips to American soldiers serving in Afghanistan, there are Congressmen who help illegal aliens deprive American citizens of military service opportunities.

"It's appalling that some members of the Republican conference, and frankly all members of the Democratic conference, place illegal immigrants on pedestals over American citizens, contrary to the needs andwishes of the American people.

"Illegal aliens are already taking jobs from and suppressing the wages of struggling American families in the private job market. Now Democrats and wayward Republicans are similarly and actively undermining Americans' opportunities to serve in the military.

"It is no wonder that, in the face of such economic hostility emanating from Washington, America's youth are too often despondent and all-to-willing to express their dissatisfaction via arson, assaults, riots, and other forms of criminal conduct.

"Dealing with mass immigration and border security is one of America's highest priorities. No other issue has as large an impact on national security and job opportunities for American citizens than border security. I cannot speak for other Washington elected officials but, as for me, I was elected to protect and promote the interests of Americans, not illegal aliens. As such, I will continue my fight to put Americans first as we work to remove Rep. Gallego's language from the NDAA prior to House passage."
