Hearing of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee - The Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act of 2015

Hearing

Date: March 17, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Senator Sullivan, I'd like to thank you for having this hearing to discuss a very important piece of legislation. I want to welcome our witnesses and thank them for their time today.

The Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act of 2015 contains a number of provisions that will increase access to hunting and fishing, correct inconsistencies in the law, and extend programs that are vital to our conservation efforts. The language we examine today was a result of the efforts between many parties to craft a sportsman's bill that will enhance recreational opportunities for all. Many of these provisions I have supported in past Congresses and I look forward to finally passing them into law.

As a sportsman and an avid fisherman, I understand and appreciate the role these activities hold as long-standing tradition for many families across the country. It is my goal to help ensure these recreational opportunities are open and available so that we can responsibly enjoy and conserve our natural resources.

Again, I'd like to thank Senator Sullivan and Senator Whitehouse for having this hearing today and I look forward to the testimony of our witnesses.
