Hundreds ofthousands of pro-life advocates rallied in Washington, DC today for the March for Life to protest abortion. This year's march comes on the 42nd anniversary of the Supreme Court's ruling in Roe v. Wade that made abortion legal. Included in today's events was a gathering of March for Life participants from Southwestern Pennsylvania, where Congressman Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) spoke about the importance of continuing the fight for life.

"Forty two years have passed and far too many innocent lives have been lost because of the tragic decision made by the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade," said Congressman Shuster. "I proudly stand with the hundreds of thousands in Washington today that have gathered to celebrate life, and provide the voice that so many unborn were never able to have because of abortion."

Congressman Shuster, who is a member of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, has been a leader in advancing policies that stop abortions and protect the lives of the unborn including H.R. 7, No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act. This legislation, which passed the House earlier today with Congressman Shuster's support, prohibits the use of taxpayer funds being used for abortions.

"It takes more than Congress passing legislation to restrict abortions, just as it takes more than pro-life Americans speaking out in their communities," continued Shuster. "It takes us working together on our shared goal of protecting the precious lives of the unborn. Today's gathering in Washington highlights the determination and passion in this movement that consists of millions of Americans of all backgrounds across the country fighting for life."

Since taking office, Congressman Shuster has been recognized several times by organizations like National Right to Life for his perfect voting record for pro-life legislation and his continued commitment to advancing policies that protect the unborn.
