Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02), a Senior Member on the House Appropriations Committee and lead Democrat on the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and related agencies, applauded a new partnership between the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Raytheon announced this week. Fattah is one of the leading mentoring advocates in Congress and recently introduced legislation that would direct unprecedented funding towards youth mentoring programs:

"I applaud the recently announced partnership between Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Raytheon. For years, Boys & Girls Clubs have been an important presence on military bases across the United States, providing enrichment and mentoring opportunities to military youth. By combining resources and expertise, Raytheon and BGCA have created a unique mentoring experience that invests in the future success of our country's military youth and inspires an interest in the STEM fields. As a result of the "Centers of Innovation," students will not only be prepared to succeed in the classroom, but also exposed to new career paths and experiences.

"While I continue my work in Congress to bring increased support and federal funding to youth mentoring, I commend collaborations like this one that helps set our next generation on the strongest path possible for success."
