Rangel Honors Holocaust Remembrance Day

Statement

Date: April 16, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

On April 16, Congressman Charles B. Rangel released the following statement in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day:

"Today we recognize Holocaust Remembrance Day to honor the millions of lives lost during one of the most horrific events in world history. This sad memory reminds us of the commitment we must continue to make to ensure acts of hate and bigotry are never repeated.

I am proud to have worked across the aisle with my colleagues in Congress on various bills to fight anti-Semitism and racism. Just recently I supported a resolution urging the Administration to combat anti-Semitism globally, held events at our embassies and consulates that recognize the significance of this year to the Jewish people, and condemn any speech denying the Holocaust and other crimes of Nazi Germany.

As we reflect on one of the darkest chapters in human history we must commit ourselves and future generations to promoting respect for all mankind. Let us learn from the past and make every effort to ensure equality and justice for all."
