Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Sen. Cory A. Booker, D-N.J., today praised White House action that seeks to speed and expand broadband deployment and adoption by addressing regulatory hurdles and encouraging investment and training. Booker is a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, which has jurisdiction over telecommunications and broadband technology policy.

"Expanding the availability of broadband and enhancing Internet access will help to level the technology playing field and grow our economy. Doing more to promote innovation in - and expansion of - Internet access improves our country's global competitiveness," said Sen. Booker

The Administration and I share a commitment to expanding the availability of broadband in communities around the country, and the President's actions today are an important step forward. There is also a role for Congress in helping to connect our communities and make Wi-Fi more available for public use, which is why I urge the Senate to act on important legislation like the Community Broadband Act and the Wi-Fi Innovation Act."
