Rep. Walters Supports House GOP FY16 Budget

Statement

Date: March 25, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Mimi Walters (CA-45) today released the following statement after voting in support of the House GOP Fiscal Year 2016 Budget Resolution, H. Con. Res. 27, A Balanced Budget for a Stronger America.

Said Rep. Mimi Walters, "Every day, American families across the country make tough decisions to keep their own budgets balanced and ensure they live within their means. Yet, Washington continues to spend money it doesn't have and recklessly piles onto an already astronomical national debt. The House GOP budget seeks to tackle our nation's debt problem head-on by cutting $5.5 trillion in federal spending and balancing our budget in less than ten years. It also repeals Obamacare in full, including the law's onerous taxes, mandates, and regulations that are crippling hard-working Americans and small businesses across the country. We empower patients and physicians by repealing the President's Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) -- an unelected, unaccountable board of bureaucrats -- and make improvements to Medicare and Social Security to ensure the programs remain solvent and secure. This balanced budget means a stronger America and a healthier economy with more opportunities for individuals to pursue and achieve their American Dream. I was pleased to support its passage today."
