Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) issued the following statement after voting against the Senate Amendment to H.R. 240, which effectively clears the way for the President's immigration executive action to be implemented:
"I once again voted no, but the Senate Amendment to H.R. 240 still passed. We must now hope that the recent ruling by a federal district judge stands so the President's unconstitutional executive action on immigration does not move forward.
"The facts haven't changed. Just like President Obama said on 22 occasions, he doesn't have the power to bypass Congress and change immigration policy on his own. Despite this setback, I will continue to stand up for the Constitution and fight any and all actions that allow these executive orders to move forward."
