Vice Chair Crowley Statement on House Passage of Clean Homeland Security Funding Bill

Statement

Date: March 3, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement following passage of a long-term funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security that is clear of Republican anti-immigrant language:

"After bringing our Homeland Security to the brink of a shutdown, I'm glad Republicans have finally realized the futility in refusing to protect the American people. Picking a fight with President Obama and jeopardizing the safety of American families was not only absurd, but it was downright dangerous.

"We have big challenges ahead of us and Democrats stand ready to work on behalf of the American people. It is time for Republicans to put an end to these partisan games once and for all and join us in enacting an agenda that creates jobs, boosts paychecks, encourages investment, and puts American families first."
