Kirkpatrick Expands Constituent Service on Navajo

Location: Flagstaff, AZ

U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., is expanding her constituent services to better serve residents of the Navajo Nation, adding two staff members based in Tuba City and Chinle.

The Navajo Nation is the largest land-based tribe in the United States and spans parts of Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. The tribe has a population of more than 250,000.

"Many folks in our tribal communities have to drive for hours to get to work or school or to access services," Kirkpatrick said. "My hope is that our staff in Tuba City and Chinle will ease some of that burden for constituents who need assistance with Social Security, IHS, veterans' benefits or other federal issues. Casework is one of the most direct ways our offices are helping the people of District One."

Kirkpatrick already has five district offices serving the massive, mostly rural Congressional District One, which has nearly 80 communities and 12 Native American tribes. The offices are in Flagstaff, Show Low, Globe, Casa Grande and Marana.

In the 113th Congress, Kirkpatrick's district staff successfully resolved hundreds of constituent cases, topping $2 million in taxpayer savings and benefits.
