Hoyer Statement on Open Enrollment Numbers for 2015

House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the Affordable Care Act's open enrollment numbers for 2015:

"Once again, the statistics for this year's open enrollment period in the federal and state-based health insurance marketplaces demonstrate that Americans are taking advantage of the Affordable Care Act to access quality coverage for themselves, their families, and their employees. With more than 11 million people having selected plans or having re-enrolled, the marketplaces are working and helping reduce the number of uninsured while enabling millions to receive cost-saving premium tax credits.

"This year's open enrollment numbers ought to be a powerful reminder to the opponents of health reform that, in spite of fifty-six votes to repeal or undermine it and repeated litigation, millions of Americans are benefiting from it and wish it to continue. House Democrats will continue to stand in defense of the law's patient protections and cost savings."
