Governor Sam Brownback Announces Appointment of New Policy Director

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback today announced the appointment of Brandon Smith as his new policy director, effective March 2, 2015.

"Brandon brings strong experience at the state and federal level that will serve Kansans well," said Governor Brownback. "I am pleased to welcome him to the team."

Smith was raised in Olathe and earned his law degree from the University of Kansas. He also holds an advanced law degree from George Washington University Law School. He previously worked as an intern in the 2010 legislative session for Rep. Lance Kinzer as chair of the Judiciary Committee and as a law clerk in the Third Judicial District of Kansas. Since 2011, Smith has worked for the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies in Washington, D.C.

"Governor Brownback has a strong vision for the future of Kansas and I am grateful to have this opportunity to serve my fellow Kansans," Smith said. "I am excited to return to my home state and help make it the best place in America to raise a family and grow a business."
