Helping our Communities Fight Hunger and Reduce Poverty

Statement

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the below statement following House passage of H.R. 644, the Fighting Hunger Incentive Act of 2015.

"Generosity and helping those in need are values have long been at the root of our American culture," Rep. Scalise said. "Our legislation will help reduce poverty and hunger in our communities by making it easier for individuals and private organizations to help charities keep their pantries full. I hope that after quick passage by the Senate, the president will drop his veto threat and do the right thing by signing this bipartisan bill into law."
