Farenthold on Clinton E-Mail Scandal: "The American people deserve transparency."

Press Release

Date: March 3, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-27), a member of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee and House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement today regarding the revelation that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton apparently conducted official government business exclusively on her personal e-mail account instead of a government account:

"Despite claims to be an advocate for transparency Secretary Clinton's use of a personal e-mail account makes it difficult or impossible to ensure that government records are preserved.

"This lack of transparency has created questions: What happened to all of her e-mails? Were they archived? If not, why? Who decided and what process was in place for determining what e-mails were preserved or not? What security measures were put in place to protect her personal e-mail account from hackers? Was classified information shared or discussed over a network that was not secured? Where her actions legal? Why did President Obama and his 'most transparent administration ever' allow this practice to continue?

"The American people deserve transparency."
