Stutzman to Chair Budget and Spending Task Force for Republican Study Committee

Statement

Date: Feb. 10, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued this statement after being asked by Chairman Bill Flores to lead the Budget and Spending Task Force for the Republican Study Committee (RSC).

"I am honored to Chair the Budget and Spending Task Force for the Republican Study Committee at a time when Washington desperately needs to return to an era of fiscal responsibility. President Obama only seems to understand higher taxes and more spending, with absolutely no desire to reform our entitlement programs or bring down our national debt.

Stutzman said, "Under the leadership of Chairman Flores and with my colleagues of the RSC, I strongly believe we will be able to offer a positive alternative to President Obama's big government, tax and spend recklessness with a budget that will remove government roadblocks and allow more working families to prosper and live the American Dream."

"I am very pleased that Congressman Stutzman will be leading the Republican Study Committee's (RSC) Budget and Spending Task Force," Chairman Flores said in a statement. "Congressman Stutzman has been a stalwart member of the RSC, working on behalf of American taxpayers to fight out-of-control government spending and hold Washington accountable."

"Every year, the Republican Study Committee produces a common-sense budget blueprint to start growing America's economy, fix Washington's fiscal mess, restore our nation's strength and security and protect American values," Chairman Flores continued."

"Our constituents deserve a government that is responsible with the hard earned tax dollars of American workers. I look forward to working with Chairman Flores and my colleagues on the committee to produce a budget that will recharge our economic engine and strengthen America both at home and abroad," said Stutzman.

Background: The Republican Study Committee is a group of House Republicans organized for the purpose of advancing a conservative social and economic agenda in the House of Representatives. The committee is dedicated to a limited and Constitutional role for the federal government, a strong national defense, the protection of individual and property rights, and the preservation of traditional family values.
