Congressman Donald Norcross (D-NJ) has been selected to serve on the House Armed Services Committee for the 114th Congress. The House Armed Services Committee (HASC) is responsible for funding the Department of Defense and the United States Armed forces, having jurisdiction over military operations and defense policy. Furthermore, the Committee is responsible for overseeing a number of programs under the Department of Energy relating to national security.

"I am honored to have been selected to serve on the Armed Services Committee, and I want to thank my colleagues for their trust and support," said Congressman Norcross. "South Jersey is home to thousands of veterans and active duty service members, and countless others are living and serving at the Joint Base or working in our leading defense industry. All of these individuals play an integral part in protecting our nation and I am eager to represent them in Congress and bring their insight to the issues we face."

In addition to HASC, Congressman Norcross was selected for the House Democratic Steering & Policy Committee, which is responsible for advising the Caucus leadership on the nation's most pressing issues, carrying out the party's agenda, and assigning Members to their respective House committees.

The Congressman will be named to a second House committee in the upcoming days.
