Congressman Norcross, delegation to tour NJ military installations

Tomorrow, Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ01) will join members of the New Jersey Congressional delegation to tour the state's key military installations and receive briefings from their commanding officers.

The delegates will be escorted by the New Jersey Air National Guard 177th Fighter Wing out of Atlantic City and will visit servicemembers at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, Picatinny Arsenal, and Naval Weapons Station Earle. The trip is being organized by the New Jersey Department of Military and Veteran Affairs.

"New Jersey's military bases play an integral role in our national defense and I look forward to this opportunity to extend my support and appreciation to those serving in our state," said Congressman Norcross. "Literally tens of thousands of servicemebers and civilians rely on the bases' operations and I am eager to hear from their top leaders on what my colleagues and I in Congress can do to ensure these installations continue their critical work and thrive for years to come.

"This bipartisan visit could not come at a better time -- as we begin our work in the House Armed Services Committee, the lessons we learn this week and the relationships we form will prove critical to our efforts on behalf of servicemembers, veterans, and their families," stated the Congressman.

This will mark the second visit Congressman Norcross made to a state military base in recent months, having joined President Obama at JB MDL last December. Tomorrow's visits will be closed to the media.

Congressman Norcross was named to the House Armed Services Committee for the 114th Congress, which is responsible for funding the Department of Defense and the United States Armed forces and overseeing military operations and defense policy.

As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Norcross serves on the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee, which oversees ammunition programs, key Army and Air Force acquisition programs, all Navy and Marine Corps aviation programs, as well as National Guard, Army and Air Force reserve modernization. Additionally, the Congressman sits on the Emerging Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee, having jurisdiction over counter-terrorism programs, Special Operations Forces, as well as defense science and cyber initiatives.

The Congressman also serves on the House Budget Committee.
