U.S. Congressman John Mica (FL07) was today named to sit on key subcommittees on both the Transportation and Infrastructure and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee (OGR) Committees. Mica, past Chairman of the Transportation Committee, was today named to serve on three subcommittees, Aviation, Rail and Highway, for which his expertise will prove most vital. In addition to his previously announced chairmanship overseeing the OGR Subcommittee on Transportation and Public Assets, Rep. Mica was also named to the National Security Subcommittee.
Mica's transportation committee posts allow him a unique position to guide the direction of ongoing and new projects, not only in Central Florida but across the nation as well. Mica, recognized as one of our nation's foremost authorities on transportation issues in Congress, will look to continue his mission to "do more with less" as he looks to improve and update our nation's infrastructure in a pressing fiscal environment. Continuing his previous works, Mica will continue to review operations and administration for all modes of transportation while seeking out government waste, fraud and abuse.
Being the senior member of this chief national security investigative panel, as well as the committee as a whole, Mica will help lead the most pressing security issues in recent memory, including embassy security, Secret Service reform and all Department of Homeland Security programs.
"With my Oversight and Government Reform and Transportation and Infrastructure Committee assignments, much of my work in the 114th Congress will focus on ensuring that government functions responsibly and efficiently," said Congressman Mica. "I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress to make the American People's priorities our priorities by enacting common-sense legislation."
Mica's previous leadership positions include Chairman of the House Transportation Committee, Chairman of the House Aviation Subcommittee, Chairman of the House Government Operations Subcommittee, Chairman of the House Civil Service Subcommittee and Chairman of the House Criminal Justice Drug Policy Subcommittee.
