Congressman Pittenger: "CROmnibus" Cuts Wasteful Spending, Supports Military, Strengthens Fight Against President's Amnesty Plan

Press Release

Date: Dec. 11, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Tonight, Congressman Robert Pittenger joined a bipartisan majority in passing the FY 2015 Omnibus Spending Package, which cuts wasteful government spending, reduces unnecessary red tape, and strategically shifts the fight over President Obama's unconstitutional amnesty plan into early 2015.

Prohibits taxpayer bailouts of unprofitable Obamacare insurance plans.

Slashes funding for the EPA and IRS and prohibits funds for witch hunts targeting organizations based on political or religious beliefs.

Provides funds to eliminate the VA's disability compensation claims backlog by the end of 2015.

Includes strong Second Amendment and Pro Life protections.

Provides a pay raise for our brave troops and fully funds cost-of-living adjustments for our honored veterans.

Protects farmers from unnecessary Dodd-Frank regulations requiring excessive collateral on farm loans.

Lowest federal spending since 2008.

"Today's vote was a victory for hardworking American taxpayers, who are tired of Washington wasting their hard earned money," commented Congressman Pittenger (NC-09). "Democrats have long ignored the normal budget process, allowing wasteful spending to continue on autopilot. This spending bill restores fiscal sanity by forcing Washington to live on a budget, just like ordinary American families."

Today's vote also tightly restricts President Obama's unconstitutional amnesty plan by providing no new funding for amnesty-related activities, freezing the Department of Homeland Security budget at current levels, and providing DHS/immigration funding only through late February, allowing the Republican-led House and Senate to more fully address immigration in early 2015.

"With today's vote, we have strategically shifted the fight against illegal amnesty to a more advantageous position, when Republicans control both the House and Senate and can focus on common sense solutions, not whatever watered-down plan might be acceptable to Senator Harry Reid."
